A few more from TTD – DC – Amanda

17 07 2007

Our last couple is Amanda and… you guessed it! Sean!!!! :) Amanda and Sean will be tying the knot in October. Now you are probably wondering, “If they are not married yet, then why is she trashing the dress??!” Amanda purchased two dresses. She saw another dress she liked better, but it was after she bought the first dress.

DC gets trashed

16 07 2007

Okay, you know those disclaimers that always say, “No …… were harmed in the making of this movie”?? Well, here’s my disclaimer: DRESSES WERE TRASHED IN THE MAKING OF THIS BLOG!

It was a blast hanging out yesterday with Sandy, Natalie, and Amanda and Sean, Sean, and Sean! Yep, all three girls have husbands named “Sean”! How random is that?  I was also joined by my photographer friends: Corbin Harris, Bob Decker, Heather Clarke, and Matt Reeves.

Thank you to Sarah Simmons and WTTG Fox 5 News for coming out with us. You can see the story here.

We started off the morning by meeting everyone in front of Union Station in Washington, DC. Sandy and Sean were the first to arrive and we wasted no time in warming up the cameras. After a few shots in front of Union Station we decided to move across the street, heading toward The US Capitol. We found plenty to do around the Capitol grounds and gradually moved towards a fountain to get the girls wet. (See one of the resulting shots below). We were amazed that we didn’t draw the attention of the police and get kicked out or even worse, get arrested! A few tourists started gathering and after we left the fountain, the tourists decided they had to get in the fountain too.

Next, we headed across the street to The Dubliner to get something to eat while we waited for Fox 5 to catch up with us. Thank you to the fine folks at The Dubliner for putting up with us! :) We did some shooting in and around The Dubliner. The dumpster and alley shots are from an alley nearby.

Fox 5 wanted to see the girls get their dresses wet, so we headed back to the fountain in front of The Capitol and played in the fountain again and we still didn’t get arrested!

After Fox 5 left the girls decided they wanted to go to a cemetery. We went into Virginia and visited the Mount Zion Historic Church in Loudoun County.

We wrapped up our Trash the Dress Adventure by playing in Little River (which is more of a creek) near the Aldie Mill in Aldie, VA.

A few people have already been asking to see some photos, so here are some teasers.  You can see some more in the archive.

Sunday’s the BIG DAY – TTD DC

12 07 2007

Well, Sunday is it! Trash the Dress Bash – DC! There will be three brides with their husbands (oh, and get this! All the husband’s names are ‘Sean’ How random is that?!) and six photographers, including yours truly! And the local news will be showing up! :) Where are we doing this? Sorry, but this is on a need to know basis! Undisclosed location! Look for postings and photos next week!

They say it’s your birthday!

2 07 2007

  20070702-nathanael-njp_2007-nj10016.jpg

Today is Nathanael’s sixth Birthday.  Nathanael was so excited.  He’s been telling people for over a week that he wasn’t going to be five any more.  He picked out his birthday dinner (pizza), he baked his birthday cake yesterday (with Mommy’s help) and iced it too! (also with Mommy’s help!).  Chocolate cake with chocolate icing!  Nathanael was up at 5:30 this morning, before I left for work!

Nathanael has always been a happy boy as you can see here.  Daddy did this in four takes because he couldn’t get the lighting the way he wanted it and Nathanael thought it was great that he got to make four wishes and blow out the candle four times!

Happy Birthday to my Big Boy!

Also, happy 40th Anniversary to my parents!

Meet the Vaughans

1 07 2007

Meet Wally, Michele, Jessica, Tyler and Sarah!  The Vaughan Family and my family attend New Hope Bible Church in Front Royal, VA.  I went out to their house last Sunday.  It was my first time out there since they moved.  Next time I do a family session in the woods, please tell me to wear long pants!  This was the second family session in two days and both days I got attacked by killer gnats!

Here’s what I was able to get before the gnats swarmed down and carried off the photographer!
