29 03 2007

Okay, actually we started off in Falls Church, but then we ended up in Alexandria. But so was everyone else! It was a beautiful day to be stuck in traffic on King Street!

As I mentioned, Sunday was my Double Header. Sunday morning I met Colin & Molly in Georgetown. We actually retraced much of the route that Shelby, Becky, Val, and I walked with Sarah during our last visit to Georgetown in November.

Double Header

27 03 2007

Wow, Sunday was a busy day!  I did two Engagement Sessions and was worn out at the end of the day.  I started Sunday Morning in Georgetown with Colin and Molly.  We actually walked along much of the route that I took when I did the bridal session with Sarah.  Sunday afternoon I met with David and Kayla in Falls Church, but then we decided to head on over to Alexandria for their Engagement Session.  It was such a beautiful day, coupled with the fact that on street parking is free on Sundays, and everyone was out enjoying the weather.  Both couples were a blast to hang out with.  I really enjoyed getting to know them better and finding out more about their weddings.  I will have some shots from their Sessions later this week, so check back soon. :)

July 7, 2007 – The most popular wedding date of the year.

21 03 2007

I am a member of several organizations that represent professional photographers and one of the biggest discussions over the last year has been how popular the date of July 7, 2007 will be as a wedding date.  Just the other day I was listening to WTOP Radio and they were even discussing the popularity of this date.

Why is this date popular?

Well, for many reasons:  July 7, 2007 or 07/07/07 is all sevens (777).  Seven is of course a lucky number if you are a betting person.   The number seven has great importance to Christians. Also, July 7, 2007 is on a Saturday this year!  Oh, and most importantly, the both of you better not forget your anniversary! :)

Here is a site with some more information and a New York Times story on the popularity of this date.

So, why am I making all this fuss over 7/7/7?  Because I am still available!  So, if you are getting married on 07/07/07 or know of anyone that is, please have them contact me.

Thank you. :)
Neal

Robot Girl Scouts from Outer Space!

11 03 2007

Okay, it’s that time of year again, when they are out in force! Peddling their Thin Mints and Samoas. This year they even have Sugar Free Little Brownies which for a diabetic like me is a good thing! (Although, I did stop by Cold Stone Creamery on the way home! I had a coupon for free ice cream, do you think I was going to pass that up?!) There are people at my work selling them and friends that have little girls selling them, and of course we want to support everyone! So, it is fair to say that the Jacob House does have a supply of Girl Scout Cookies in the pantry.

Last night I ran into Micro Center just before closing to pick up a part for my printer and on the way out I was greeted by a new breed of Girl Scouts!

All I had with me was my camera phone, which I promise I won’t be using to shoot your wedding, maternity session, or other special event! :)

In a fog?

7 03 2007

Putting a wedding together brings about many different feelings. As the day of your wedding gets closer the stress starts building. You have questions. Lots and lots of questions.

Questions such as:

  • How early in the wedding-planning process should I book a wedding photographer?
  • Someone I know has offered to do our wedding photography for $700 and give us the digital files. Wouldn’t that be a great way to save money?
  • Will the wedding photographer we want to hire hold our date or call us if someone else requests that date?

Now there is a new web site with the answers to these questions and more. Visit WedFog.com for honest answers about wedding photography. Neal Jacob Photography is a contributing member of The Professional Wedding Photographers Collective, host of WedFog.com.
